About
Ryan Lee Caldwell is a video editor and director, based in Portland, Oregon. With over a decade of professional editing experience, he's built a career turning raw footage into compelling and thoughtful stories—whether that's a music video, a documentary, or a brand piece that actually connects with people, or is just plain cool!
After attending Scottsdale Community College, he took his first full-time editing job at an advertising agency in 2014, working with brands like Hyundai, Nationwide Vision, and even providing his voice-over talent for the Tucson fast-food chain, Eegees. In need of a change of scenery, he made the move from the Arizona desert to Portland in 2016 to join Funnelbox as their in-house editor, collaborating with brands like Warby Parker, Consumer Cellular, Xerox, New Seasons Market, Cisco, SeatGeek, and Kodak Alaris.
Ryan has occasionally directed his own music videos and short films, but thrives in the edit bay. He thinks of editing as the final draft of the script and loves collaborating with directors to push their vision a step further—finding the story in whatever footage he's given and bringing something unexpected to the table. He also has two cats, enjoys karaoke, and the occasional debate about why LOST was the last great TV show.
